APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHAIR OF THE SOCIETY
Tim Birse has been appointed as the new Chair of the Society’s Board of Directors following the Annual General Meeting held on 15 June. Tim succeeds Steven Spilsbury who stepped down at the conclusion of the AGM having served as Chair for 5 years and as a Board Director since August 2014.
Tim is a qualified and experienced actuary, having spent his entire career within the mutual financial services sector. He joined our Board in September 2016 and, prior to his appointment as Chair, was Chair of the Society’s Risk Committee and a member of the Audit, Investment and With-profits Committees.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Green, Chief Executive said: “I am looking forward to working with Tim. He takes up the role at an important time for the Society, where an ambitious programme of work is underway.
“His wealth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to focus on providing existing and prospective members with the benefits they expect from a savings or investment plan with a mutual Friendly Society.”
